The first and well-known BRAND VAN EGMOND lighting object was not so much ‘designed’ as well created.

As Annet set out sketching, surrounded by objects of nature, her eyes were drawn to the marked skin and grooves of a pile of calabash. Eventually, surrounded by hundreds of drawings, the images melted into one core organic shape. Layer on layer, a new object emerged, robust, strong, following its own rhythm and rhyme.

Lifted off the floor and onto the ceiling, chunks of glass were added and the natural successor of the classic chandelier was born. A breakthrough new design, a signature set in iron.
