William Brand (1963) and Annet van Egmond (1964) studied at the Hogeschool
voor de Kunsten, Utrecht, the Netherlands, where he graduated as an architect
and she as a sculptor. Two pioneer artists with a big passion for objects and
design. They have been working as independent product designers for over
20 years, literally bringing their sculptures from the ground to the ceiling. Their
handcrafted lighting sculptures radiate passion and emotion and leave a longlasting
William and Annet founded BRAND VAN EGMOND in 1989 with the sole intention
to create art without restraints, and until today they still lead their studio
with their craftsmanship and knowledge of handmade, artisanal production,
which is a fundamental ingredient of all their concepts. They first obtained
international fame more than 20 years ago with their first lighting sculpture
Chandelier, that became an instant icon. Since then BRAND VAN EGMOND
has become an international trendsetter in creating innovative, independent

of the brand. They create their new collections of handcrafted lighting
sculptures in freedom with fun and passion, never limited by fashion and trends.
Their collection includes several series of lighting sculptures as well as haute
couture pieces that are designed on request in special sizes, shapes, colors
and materials to meet the wishes of individual clients worldwide.
BRAND VAN EGMOND’s products leave from the headquarters in Naarden,
the Netherlands, to shine all over the world, from Shanghai to New York. Their
designs are being published in worldwide leading magazines and several
renowned international companies such as Chopard, Four Season, Hilton and
Neuhaus use the lighting sculptures in their establishments. Many pop stars
and movie stars, as well as royals, are among their customers.
Every year BRAND VAN EGMOND launches new collections in Milan.
In 2004 the Hollywood series shed its light over the 76th Academy Awards
presentation in the USA.
In 2006 Patricia Urquiola selected Flower Power for the Design Yearbook of 2007.
In 2008 the Dutch Government selected the Night Watch chandelier to decorate
the VIP Lounge of the Dutch pavilion in the World Expo 2008, Zaragoza,
during the opening event by prince Willem-Alexander and princess Maxima.
In 2010 BRAND VAN EGMOND’s first book ‘Lighting Sculptures’ was published
and is now available in all major bookstores worldwide, including the
MOMA bookstore in New York.
In 2011 BRAND VAN EGMOND created a lighting designer platform, focussed
on sharing its passion for lighting sculptures with other designers, artists,
fashion designers and architects. Dutch designer Richard Hutten was the first
to come up with a new distinctive design.
